Cauley Woodrow is hungry to help Rovers’ play-off push after a hectic end to the January transfer window.
Woodrow completed a loan switch from Luton in the final stages of deadline day. The 30-year-old had been absent from the squad at Sheffield Wednesday a couple of days prior amid speculation over his future.
The striker says making the move to Ewood Park was a no-brainer as soon as he heard about Rovers’ interest.
“It was all a bit stressful to be honest,” he told " target="_blank" class="link"> RoversTV. “But I managed to get in the car, get up here in time and get it all signed and sealed, so I am really happy to be here.
“I have had a bit of a busy January with a few different things going on, but sort of the last few days (of the window) I heard the interest.
“I really wanted to take the opportunity to come here and obviously Blackburn are flying this year and doing really well.
“When I heard about the interest, I wanted to try and come on board and help the promotion chase.”
Woodrow played alongside Callum Brittain at Barnsley earlier in his career and also spoke with Luton team-mate Thomas Kaminski before heading to East Lancashire.
“My football has probably been a little bit limited at Luton for one reason or another, and I think for any player it is just important to feel wanted and to play football,” he continued.
“Blackburn is a massive football club as we all know. The history here is amazing and I know Callum Brittain, he has obviously spoken really highly of the club. I am just really happy to be here and looking forward to getting going.
“I also spoke to Thomas Kaminski and he said without a doubt to come here. He spoke really highly of the football club and I know he was obviously liked here, so definitely someone that I wanted to listen to and take some advice from.”
Woodrow did not get the playing time he had hoped for at Luton during the first half of the season, making one start in the league.
The Hatters have struggled since their relegation from the Premier League and currently find themselves in the drop zone.
“It has been difficult,” the forward admitted. “Any player wants to play as much as possible and last season we were in the Premier League and doing really well.
“This year it has been tough for Luton and tough for me as a player. Hopefully, I can get some minutes in, get some goals and help Blackburn.
“I am really hungry still. I have played a lot of games in this division and scored a lot of goals, so with game time and with opportunities, I am sure I can do that again.
“I think as a player, I thrive on scoring goals. I have played most of my career in the Championship so I know this division, I know how tough it is.
“Obviously, my goal is to help the team and to score goals, but ultimately it is about the football club doing well.
“I am a Blackburn player until the end of the season and I am going to do all I can to help this football club achieve what it wants to achieve.”
The 30-year-old has already tasted promotion from the Championship, making 32 appearances as the Hatters won the play-offs in 2022/23.
Woodrow hopes his experience can benefit the Rovers squad as John Eustace’s men battle to remain in the top six.
“I have been promoted to the Premier League with Luton and know how good it is when you are in a winning team, the feeling around the place,” he said.
“I have not been here for long but I can already feel the positivity and it is just amazing when everything is going well and the club is striving for something. There is no better place to be when that is happening.
“I have been a part of that before so I know what it takes and how hard it is. It is not going to be easy but that feeling at the end of the season when you do get promoted is amazing and if that could happen here, it would be unbelievable.”
The new addition added: “I think the position we are in at the minute is a strong one. We just need to keep pushing and winning games to make sure that, by the end of the season, we ae there and can get into the play-offs to try and push for promotion.”
